Miss Northern States supports the northeastern portion of the United States and Canada. MNS is open to girls and women of all ages. If you reside in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, or Canada, you are eligible to compete for a division title.
Miss Northern States is excited to announce that for 2025, we're expanding our reach! All contestants in the Sweetheart Pageant on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in Wapakoneta, Ohio, are invited to participate, regardless of their home state. By competing in the Sweetheart Pageant, you will earn the chance to showcase your talents at the MNS National Finals event from November 14-16, 2025, at the Cherry Valley Hotel in Newark, Ohio. OPENING NUMBER
​​​​There will be an introduction to kick off both the Junior and Senior Division shows, marking the beginning of what promises to be an exciting separate production. Each national contestant will be formally introduced by the emcee, creating a celebratory atmosphere as they take the stage. Following introductions, the event will transition into the Opening Number routine, which will be meticulously choreographed and led by the talented Natasha Colwell. To ensure everyone is well-prepared, Natasha will share updates, instructional videos, and rehearsal tips well ahead of the National Finals, enabling each participant to learn their specific part with confidence. Mark your calendars for a mandatory 2-hour rehearsal scheduled for Friday, November 14, 2025. During this session, contestants will refine their performances and coordinate with one another to ensure a seamless presentation on the big day. Participants are required to wear a cocktail dress or jumpsuit in one of the designated colors—light pink, light purple, or white—to create a cohesive and visually striking look for the Opening Number. *Please note the Baby Princess and Tiny Princess Contestants will participate in an on-stage introduction which includes stage presence. This replaces the interview for these two divisions. The emcee will read the introduction. ​

​​​INTERVIEW: This is an excellent opportunity to engage with the judges and convey who you are, your commitment to kindness and community service, and your aspirations for being crowned the 2025-2026 Miss Northern States National Queen. The interview is three minutes for the Jr. and Princess Divisions and Preteen and up will be four minutes. Interview will take place after registration on Friday. If more time is necessary, the Senior Division interviews will occur on Saturday morning too. As you enter the interview room, prepare a concise introduction to share with the judges. For the Jr. and Princess Divisions this can be a simple greeting. Make the most of this chance to showcase your passion and dedication!​ Additionally, you will need to mail five (5) copies of your printed bio to the MNS National Office. A MNS one-page bio template will be provided. The deadline to mail your bio and mailing address will be provided on the national communication page.

FUN FASHION: This is an exciting opportunity to dazzle the audience with your high-fashion ensemble! Step onto the stage with confidence and flair, showcasing your exquisite modeling skills. The walking routine is designed to be fun and vibrant, allowing your personality to shine through! Feel free to make two captivating stops and strike multiple poses that highlight your outfit. A detailed walking pattern will be shared in advance of the national event, so prepare to leave a lasting impression!

EVENING GOWN: Contestants are invited to shine in a breathtaking floor-length gown that reflects their unique style and personality, embodying grace and elegance. Our delightful Baby Princess and Tiny Princess contestants may choose charming knee-length dresses or cupcake-style dress. It is essential for every participant to select a gown that inspires confidence and showcases their poise throughout this esteemed event. Ahead of the national gathering, a carefully crafted walking pattern will be revealed, guiding each contestant in their graceful journey across the stage and making every moment magical.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT: Community service and giving back are the beating heart of Miss Northern States! Here, we embrace the motto "Kindness First, Always!" Our sisterhood thrives on collaboration, uniting to undertake meaningful service projects that leave a lasting, positive impact on our community. This year, our MNS National service project will proudly support the Franklin County Children Services Holiday Wish Program. To discover more, we invite you to visit the Holiday Wish website. As part of our commitment to this cause, we ask that you bring one toy donation to registration on November 14, 2025. Contestants who truly shine by going above and beyond in their support of this initiative will be honored with a special award at the formal dinner on Saturday night. The top five contestants with the highest scores will be honored with prestigious awards in both the Junior and Senior Divisions. But that's not all—the overall Junior and Senior division winner will be crowned with the coveted Miss Northern States Most Photogenic sash and a custom crown, marking their place in the spotlight! The overall Junior and Senior division winner will be celebrated with a distinguished trophy and a custom crown, symbolizing your exceptional achievement. F. HEART OF SERVICE SPOKESMODEL: Giving back isn’t just an act; it’s a responsibility we all share. It’s in the small acts – whether volunteering at a local food bank, organizing neighborhood clean-ups, and so much more that a positive difference is made. Why do you have a heart for service? Prepare a 60 second speech about why community service and giving back is important to you and how you are making a positive difference. The three contestants with the highest score will be recognized with an award in the Jr. and Sr. Divisions. The overall winner in the Jr. and Sr. Divisions will receive a trophy and custom crown. This event is open to the Jr. Princess to Ms. Divisions.
SPLISH SPLASH & WELCOME BASH​​​​
Miss Northern States is absolutely delighted to announce the highly anticipated welcome party at our prestigious national event! Join us on Friday evening for the enchanting Splish, Splash, & Welcome Bash! The festivities will kick off in the elegant banquet hall, featuring our esteemed National Coach, Rhiannon Milhon, the visionary behind Pageant Perfection Coaching. Prepare for an evening filled with excitement, including fantastic giveaways! Dress to impress in your cutest outfit of choice! After our warm welcome in the banquet hall, you’re invited to join the MNS Team and Coach Rhiannon in the lounge and pool area for a delightful evening of swimming and the chance to forge new friendships! Don’t miss the opportunity to meet the beloved Princess Ariel and Moana, who have a special surprise waiting just for you! Please remember that a full coverage bathing suit is required, and we kindly ask you to bring a cover-up for when you're outside the pool area. Also, please note that food and drinks are not permitted in the pool area. We can't wait to celebrate with you!

FASHION DU SOLEIL FORMAL DINNER & RUNWAY EVENT
Get ready for an exciting night as Miss Northern States hosts the Fashion Du Soleil formal dinner and runway event! Dress your best for this formal seated dinner. This event will require a ticket. MNS is coordinating with the Catering Manager to create a few options to choose from, which will include a child-friendly dinner option for the Junior Division as well as a vegetarian and gluten-free option. The ticket will cover dinner, gratuity for the wait staff, and an opportunity to watch the runway show! Attendance is mandatory, and a ticket will need to be purchased for the MNS National contestant and family members wishing to attend. If the contestant is under 18, one adult chaperone will be required. The ticket requirement will be waived for the Baby Princess National contestants. Dinner options and ticket prices will be posted by May 1, 2025.
You won’t want to miss this runway event! Details on how to participate for a chance to walk at New York Fashion Week for Charjean Couture will be announced by April 30, 2025. There will be an overall winner for both the Junior Division and Senior Division.

After the runway event, MNS will present the Presidential Service Awards to honor national contestants who have completed the necessary service hours to earn this special recognition! AUCTION EVENT
Miss Northern States hosts a highly anticipated annual auction event! Each national contestant is required to contribute a themed basket or donation with a retail value of $50 to enhance our fundraising efforts. Let your creativity shine with ideas such as a delightful family game night basket filled with classic board games and snacks, a pet lover’s basket packed with toys and treats for furry friends, or a beauty-themed package overflowing with pampering essentials. Purses and adorable backpacks filled with fun, kid-friendly items are wonderful choices too! Please ensure to turn in your donation at registration on November 14, 2025. This exciting auction not only promises fun and community spirit but also supports vital annual scholarships. Thank you for your generous contribution to make this event a success! MNS is excited to announce that we will be presenting special awards for two remarkable achievements: the auction donation that garners the highest bid and the most creatively inspired donation! ​Miss Northern States has established an exclusive partnership with Matti Pearl Patches, which is owned and operated by Amanda Medina. This agreement ensures that Matti Pearl Patches is the only producer of all Miss Northern States swag and apparel, including t-shirts, hats, and other merchandise designed specifically for our organization. As such, families and contestants are strictly prohibited from producing their own MNS items to maintain brand consistency and quality. If you have a specific request for customized items for an upcoming event, please do not hesitate to reach out to the MNS National Director at missnorthernstatespageant@gmail.com or (304) 991-7929. They will assist you in coordinating any special needs you may have. In addition, Amanda is currently in the process of developing an exciting new line of apparel and swag that will be available for purchase at the Sweetheart Pageant on June 7, 2025. HAIR AND MAKEUP RULES
Miss Northern States is a natural scholarship pageant system. We encourage all girls to show their natural beauty. It is at your discretion how you choose to style your hair and makeup. It is encouraged for the Junior Division Contestants to not use heavy makeup. Light makeup and hair extensions in the younger divisions are allowed.

DRESSING ROOM
There are absolutely no males allowed in the dressing room. No photos or videos are allowed in the dressing room. Curling irons, flat irons, or any hot hair tools are only permitted in the restroom areas. Steamers are allowed in the dressing room.

Admission for the MNS National event is $40 and can be purchased at the door the day of the event. Children 6 and under are free admission. If you are visiting royalty from any system and are wearing your sash the admission is only $20. Cash, PayPal, and Venmo accepted. The admission is valid for both the Jr. and Sr. Division Competition events and the MNS Awards and Crowning show.

MISS NORTHERN STATES NATIONAL QUEEN COMMITMENT
The Miss Northern States title comes without exclusivity or restrictions, offering you the freedom to participate in local, state, national, and international events, including valuable MNS practice pageant opportunities. As a MNS National Queen, you will discover a wealth of chances to engage in meaningful service projects and community events. This prestigious title is not just an honor; it’s a commitment to embody the qualities of a positive role model, both in person and through your social media presence. Each MNS National Queen is invited to return to the National event the following year to bestow the crown upon her successor—a moment that is as rewarding as it is ceremonial. To unlock exciting sponsorships, gifts, and unique experiences, all you need to do is share a minimum of two engaging posts each month during your reign. The National Queens who fulfill the social media requirements will be celebrated on stage at the MNS Nationals event, earning a special recognition and a $100 cash scholarship. As a reigning Miss Northern States National Queen, you are honored but must take a year off from competing in the MNS Nationals event. However, there's an opportunity to register for a state-appointed title and return stronger than ever the following year. MISS NORTHERN STATES ELIGIBILITY RULES
The date of October 1, 2025, determines the competing age for each contestant. You must be a citizen of the United States or Canada, a natural born female, and have an exceptional and upstanding character. A kindness first always attitude is important. Additional qualifying factors for age divisions:
Miss Division Ages 20-30 (never married)
Mrs. Division Ages 21+ (married)
Ms. Division Ages 25+ (an unmarried woman that uses this title)
As a paid team member at Miss Northern States, it is imperative to understand that your family members are strictly prohibited from competing as a national contestant at the national finals. This rule does not apply to the Sweetheart Practice Pageants. However, volunteers are fully eligible to participate in all events.

JUDGES AND SCORING PROCESS
The professional panel of judges is refreshed annually for the national pageant, ensuring a dynamic and fair evaluation process. Each judge scores independently, and the tabulation software is managed by a Judges Chairman to accurately determine the winners. If a judge has a personal connection with a contestant, they are required to waive their right to judge, and the scoring will rely on an average from the remaining judges. The MNS Founder and Director enforces rigorous ethical standards to guarantee that the judging process remains consistent, fair, and equitable at all times.

MISS NORTHERN STATES CROWNING
The contestant who achieves the highest score in each division will be celebrated as the new Miss Northern States National Queen. The top five state finalists in each division will proudly receive a plaque in recognition of their outstanding accomplishments.

The Miss Northern States prize package is an extraordinary celebration of beauty and empowerment. It includes a stunning custom rhinestone crown and a gorgeous satin rhinestone sash that proudly showcase your title. As a winner, you'll receive a magnificent trophy, a cash scholarship, and a professional headshot that captures your elegance in your crown and sash after the crowning moment. You’ll also gain a digital ad to announce your prestigious title, exclusive sponsorships, and exciting photoshoots filled with delightful surprises. ​By maintaining a minimum of two social media posts each month during your Miss Northern States national reign and using your crown to spread kindness, you will receive a special honor on stage at the next national pageant and a $100 cash scholarship. One MNS National Queen will be celebrated as an honorary 2025-2026 Miss Northern States Ambassador for impactful service initiatives within local communities. PEOPLE'S CHOICE
Get ready for an exciting People's Choice vote featuring all of the talented Miss Northern States National contestants! The contestant who receives the highest overall votes will be honored as the People's Choice winner. This prestigious title is part of the 2025-2026 Miss Northern States National Queen's Court and comes with the same sponsorships, photoshoots, and gifts! The winner will shine on stage as they are crowned, and the sash will be ordered after the National Finals event.
