Miss Northern States
Miss Northern States: Miss Northern States is a regional state pageant opportunity that supports the northeastern portion of the United States and Canada. MNS is open to girls and women of all ages. If you reside in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, or Canada, you are eligible to compete for a division title at Miss Northern States. Please note this is a Regional State Pageant that will crown the 2024-2025 court. There is no advancement to a national pageant. There will be two local pageant event(s) which is a preliminary opportunity to be crowned a local Miss Northern States Queen. You are not required to participate in a MNS Local Preliminary Pageant event ahead of the Miss Northern States Regional Finals.

Registration and Fees: The Miss Northern States Regional Pageant fee for all required events is $399. Registration closes August 3, 2024. All fees are non-refundable. There will be an Early Bird registration special of $299 available through May 1, 2024. Miss Northern States also offers a sibling and mother/daughter discount of 50% off the second full price registration of $399. During this same weekend, the Miss Ultimate USA Regional State Pageant will occur too! If you are age 4-27 (as of 6/1/25) and want the opportunity to advance to the Ultimate National Finals in Orlando July 2025 then this is your chance to win a state division crown. For girls that qualify for both Miss Northern States and Miss Ultimate USA based on age requirements, you can compete in both Regional State Pageants for a discounted registration fee. If you plan to participate in both the Miss Northern States Regional Finals and the Miss Ultimate USA Regional Finals event, you will need to be on site August 16-18, 2024. Regional Pageant Dates: The Miss Northern State Regional Pageant dates are August 16 - 17, 2024 at the Owens Community College Center for Fine and Performing Arts Theater in Perrysburg, Ohio.

Jr. Division Required Competition Events
Please note the Jr. Division will have a separate pageant production.
1. On Stage Introduction & Stage Presence 30% (the emcee will read the introduction for the Baby and Tiny Princess Divisions)

4. Community Service Project 10% - The Baby and Tiny Princess Divisions are asked to stuff one backpack for a back-to-school donation or donate $20 to benefit a local school to fulfill the community service requirement. Please make your donation at registration.

5. On Stage Question for Top 3 in each division. Once the top 3 are called their score will drop to 25% in Casual Wear and Evening Gown. The on-stage question will be 10%.

On Stage Introduction: This is an opportunity to show your personality on stage and share some information about yourself, why kindess and community service matter to you, and why you want to be crowned the 2025 Miss Northern States Queen. You will prepare an introduction 60 second max. The emcee will read the introduction for the Baby and Tiny Princess Division.
​
Casual Wear: This is an opportunity to showcase your everyday style in your favorite casual wear outfit! Work the stage and show off your modeling skills! Make the Casual Wear walking routine fun and upbeat! Make your routine what you want it to be. Three stops and multiple poses are allowed on stage.
​
Evening Gown: The contestant should wear a floor length gown of choice. The Baby Princess and Tiny Princess Contestants may wear a knee length or cupcake style dress. Each contestant should wear a gown they love to showcase their style, elegance, grace, and poise for this event. There will be set walking pattern for the evening gown event that will be posted ahead of the regional state pageant.

Community Service Project: Community service and giving back is the heart of Miss Northern States! At Miss Northern States the motto is Kindness First Always! We are a sisterhood that works together to accomplish meaningful service projects which create a positive impact. Pick a project you are passionate about and make a donation to your favorite local charity. This can be a volunteer service project, a donation of goods, or a monetary donation. This community service requirement applies to the Jr. Princess to Ms. Divisions.

You will be required to make a sign with the following components:
1. Miss Northern States 2025 Service Project
2. Your service project highlights
3. Organization receiving your donation
4. Date of donation
5. When you make your donation, hold your sign and take a picture with your phone at your favorite local charity. Email the digital photo to missnorthernstatespageant@gmail.com by the deadline date of August 9, 2024. You are not being judged on the sign, only completion of the service project requirement.

​Optional Event Fees: Individual optional events are $50. There is an optional event pick 3 special for $100 or all 5 events for $150. Deadline to enter optional events is August 4, 2024.

A. Most Photogenic: The photogenic competition can win you the Most Photogenic event. Your most photogenic photo must be a headshot and will be an 8X10 print submission at registration. The judges will be looking for personality, fashion sense, confidence, beauty, lighting, creativity, and composition. The three contestants with the highest score will be recognized with an award in both the Jr. and Sr. Divisions. The overall winner in both the Jr. and Sr. Divisions will receive the Miss Northern States Most Photogenic sash and a cash scholarship. Additional headshot photos may be entered at registration for $10 per photo.

B. Modeling Portfolio: Are you ready to show us your modeling portfolio? The portfolio should include five to ten 8X10 photos. The judges will evaluate the portfolio submission to determine the overall winners. The portfolio is a printed submission at registration and the photos need to be in a portfolio binder. The three contestants with the highest score will be recognized with an award in both the Jr. and Sr. Divisions. The overall winner in both the Jr. and Sr. Divisions will receive a trophy and a cash scholarship.

C. Top Model: This is an on-stage modeling event! Are you ready to showcase a high fashion outfit? Show us your style and modeling in this upbeat and fun event. The three contestants with the highest score will be recognized with an award in both the Jr. and Sr. Divisions. The overall winner in both the Jr. and Sr. Divisions will receive the Miss Northern States Top Model sash and cash scholarship.

D. Heart of Service Spokesmodel: This is your opportunity to tell us why you have a heart for service. Prepare a typed essay about why community service and giving back is important to you and how you are making a difference in your state. Email your essay to missnorthernstatespageant@gmail.com by August 10, 2024. The three contestants with the highest score will be recognized with an award in the Sr. Division. The overall winner in the Sr. Division will receive a trophy and cash scholarship. Your essay will be read by the emcee for this special award. The Junior Division Contestants are not eligible for this event.

E. Fitness: Who is ready to rock the runway in the fitness competition? Please wear a fun and colorful fitness outfit of choice with tennis shoes. Make this walking routine fun and upbeat! You are allowed to make four stops on the stage at your discretion. The three contestants with the overall highest score will be recognized with an award in both the Jr. Division and Sr. Divisions. The overall winner in the Jr. and Sr. Division winners will receive a plaque and cash scholarship. This event is open to Jr Princess to Ms. Divisions.

F. Talent: Got talent? Who is ready to show the judges your talent on stage with a 90 second time limit. The overall Jr. and Sr. Divison winners will receive a plaque and cash scholarship. This event is open to Jr. Princess to Ms. Divisions.

Shining Star Party & Auction
Miss Northern States will host a Shining Star Party and Auction. This is a party event for the contestants to have fun, make new friends, dance, enjoy a sweet treat bar, and bid on auction items that help support the cost of this event and scholarships. Wear a trendy cocktail dress or outfit. Each contestant is asked to bring a themed basket or item valued at $50 retail value or more for the auction. Some examples include beauty baskets, family game night, themed baskets for pets, purses, backpacks, gift cards, and so much more. Your donation for this fun auction event helps to cover the costs for this event. If you are visiting royalty, please wear your sash and the admission is free to attend!

Hair and Makeup Rules
Miss Northern States Pageant is a natural scholarship pageant system opportunity. We encourage all girls to show their natural beauty. It is at your discretion how you choose to style your hair and makeup. It is encouraged for the Junior Division Contestants to not use heavy makeup. Light makeup and hair extensions in the younger divisions are allowed.

Dressing Room
One wristband will be given to each contestant to be used by one female chaperone in the dressing room. There are absolutely no males allowed in the dressing room. No photos or videos are allowed in the dressing room. Curling irons, flat irons, or any hot hair tools are only permitted in the restroom areas. Steamers are allowed in the dressing room.

Event Admission
Admission for the MNS Regional Pageant event can be purchased at the door the day of the event for $25 each. Children age 6 and under are free admission. The contestant's parent(s) also need tickets which can be purchased in advance at registration. If you are visiting royalty from any system and are wearing your sash the admission is only $10. Please note the admission ticket is valid for all pageant shows during this weekend which includes the Miss Ultimate USA Regional Pageant.

Kindness Standards at Miss Northern States
Miss Northern States motto is kindness first always! MNS is a sisterhood that supports each other. Contestants and their families are held to a high standard of morals and ethics. It is expected that all contestants, parents, and guests conduct themselves with kindness first. Disrespectful behavior, negative comments, or bullying will not be tolerated and is grounds for immediate dismissal or removal from the pageant venue. If you have a situation, it is important to inform the Owner and Director of Miss Northern States or a MNS team member for assistance. At Miss Northern States, we want to see every girl and woman empower and support each other! Let's cheer each other on and be there for each other when a friend is needed.

Miss Northern States Queen Commitment
This is a regional state level opportunity and does not advance to a national level pageant. There is not any exclusivity or restrictions with the Miss Northern States title. If you are crowned as a regional state queen, there will be opportunities to participate in service projects and fun events. Being a Miss Northern States Queen is an honor and you should always represent yourself as a positive role model including in social media posts and serve your community through your crown. You are asked to return to the state pageant the following year to crown your successor. If you maintain a minimum of two posts per month during your Miss Northern States reign, you will be recognized on stage with a special honor at the next regional state pageant and will receive a $100 cash scholarship.

Miss Northern States Eligibility Rules
The date of the Miss Northern States Pageant determines the competing age for each contestant. You must be a citizen of the United States or Canada, a natural born female, and have an exceptional and upstanding character. A kindness first always attitude is important. Additional qualifying factors for age divisions:
Miss Division Ages 20-27 (never married)
Mrs. Division Ages 21+ (married)
Ms. Division Ages 25+ (an unmarried woman that uses this title)

Judges and Scoring Process
The professional panel of judges change annually for the regional state pageant. Each judge scores separately and the tabulation software is processed by a Judges Chairman to determine the winners at the regional state pageant. In the event, a judge would ever know a contestant personally, they will waive their right for judging and an average of the other judges will stand for scoring. The MNS Owner and Director ensures this process has high ethical standards to ensure there is a consistent, fair, and equitable judging process.

Miss Northern States Crowning
The contestant that receives the top score in each division will be crowned the new Miss Nothern States.

Miss Northern States Prize Package
The Miss Northern States prize package includes a stunning custom Miss Northern States rhinestone crown, a gorgeous miss Northern States satin rhinestone sash, a custom plaque, flowers, a professional headshot in your Miss Northern States crown and sash following crowning, a digital ad to announce your new queen title, special sponsorships, photoshoot, and more surprises. At Miss Northern States we work with incredible sponsors that all share the same philosophy of kindness first always! As a newly crowned queen, you will have an amazing year with special events and planned service projects for you and your sister queens to connect and have fun!
If you maintain a minimum of two social media posts each month during your Miss Northern States reign and you use your crown to share kindness, you will be recognized on stage with a special honor at the next regional state pageant and will receive a $100 cash scholarship. The social media posts must include the tags #missnorthernstates #mnsheartofservice #kindnessfirstalways, and the website missnorthernstates.com. One state queen will be recognized as an honorary 2026 Miss Northern States Ambassador for service initiatives with the biggest impact to local communities. You will also crown your successor. As a reigning Miss Northern States Regional Queen, you cannot compete the following year. You are eligible to return after you age up to the next division or if you are a Miss, Mrs., or Ms. you must sit out one year.

People's Choice
There will be a People's Choice vote which will include all of the Miss Northern States contestants. The contestant with the overall highest votes will receive the Miss Northern States People's Choice sash and cash scholarship. This announcement will be made at the Miss Northern States Shining Star Party. This title will serve as part of the Miss Northern States court.
